A House of Faith

Albert Einstein, stated “Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind.”

Our Heavenly Father, the creator of heaven and earth, has provided everything an individual needs to have the kind of faith that moves mountains, raises the dead or causes that “mighty change of heart.” All you have to do is read a small portion of the discoveries science is making on the power of prayer, the power of compassion, the power of hope, and you will have the faith that is grounded in knowledge that “all things work together for good” for those who love God, keep his commandments and walk in the Spirit. My faith is built every time I choose to do what the scriptures say, because I become living proof that these simple truths work whether I know the scientific reasons or not.

My heart attempts to wrap around all of the “information” that science provides to measure the depth and breadth of the universe and the power and electromagnetic frequencies that are echoing from one end of space to the other and from one human soul to another. It boggles my understanding to attempt to piece the information together before it dissipates into forgotten facts and statistics that my brain can’t retain. Yet these forgotten facts and statistics and discoveries fill my entire being with the faith to believe that God is an intelligence far beyond my comprehension and I myself am a being beyond my comprehension because I am designed by him and valued by him. Knowledge of science lifts me to a higher awareness that I am intricately and wonderfully made by a mastermind that knows the names of each of his creations. He knows my name and he knows yours!

One beautiful example of obedience to the principles of God without knowing the scientific reasons why is in the Old Testament times when they were told by God to circumcise a baby boy on the eighth day. We now know that a baby’s blood does not have the ability to coagulate very well until the eighth day! Another example of obedience without knowing why is the commandment to abstain from drinking coffee. We now know by measuring the body’s electrical frequency that someone drinking or even holding a cup of coffee immediately dips below the levels needed to maintain health and fight off disease. We are also told in the New Testament to focus our thoughts on whatever is true and pure and holy and of good report and now find out that our thoughts can play a tremendous part in our health and well being and that positive thoughts can elevate our immune system. We are commanded to “be of good cheer” as an act of obedience, never knowing that being cheerful sends the enemy of our souls, the prince of darkness into a panic that dispels him from our presence. Now that is something science can’t prove, but we who have faith in the word of God know that it is true. Do we have to know why or how these principles work? No. We simply have to exercise our faith that they do work and walk in simple obedience to each and every hidden treasure written in scripture and apply them to our lives every day.
